Since forty-five years now, the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition honors the fascinating microscopic world and encourages both researchers and enthusiasts to display their beautiful research images. For the contest of micro-photographers from approximately 100 countries over 2000 photos were submitted. The judges selected their favorite 20 pictures and the first spot was the one of a turtle embryo. Scroll down to see all 20 photos that make it to the list of the final winner.
