Among the stories of people with big hearts, this heartfelt story shines bright. It shows us how one nick of time can change any life in any dramatic way. We will never know what fate and destiny have in store for us and this is a perfect example of that statement.
Meet this baby elephant, ‘Moyo’. Before she was named that, she was just another calf in the wilds of Zimbabwe, who was just a few days old. In a turn of unfortunate events, this young calf lost its way and got separated from its herd. Lost and terrified it has been wandering around before a pack of hyenas started to lurk around. She has no choice but to leap into the river nearby to save her life. Scroll down the rest of this amazing story of Moyo below.
This lucky calf was rescued out of the water by few rangers and it was brought to the “Wild Is Life” sanctuary located in Harare of Zimbabwe. This is where the founder of the sanctuary; Roxy Danckwerts, became Moyo’s adoptive mother.
Fast-forwarding two years forwards, they are still together and Moyo has got really attached with Roxy over the period of these couple of years. Now, this 150 Pound baby follows her adoptive mother almost everywhere. Moyo identifies her by her voice and smell, she never fails to find where her adoptive mom is. She doesn’t change her habits of tagging along with Roxy even though she is growing to become a big animal in the future.
Roxy shares this happy relationship since Moyo is one of the few animals that she shares such a close and emotional bond. It is so amazing to see this very lovely human-elephant bond.
