This world is a really fascinating place to be. It has everything that it makes ‘Earth’. Also, it has things that make it looks like totally another planet. As weird as it sounds, this place we are going to talk about has an ecosystem like nowhere we have seen before.
This location is on the Socotra Islands owned by the Yemeni government in the Northwest of the Indian ocean. Being secluded from the rest of the world, it has a different environment on those islands. Beyond the sandy beaches and the sand dunes are these trees that look like giant mushrooms up into the sky. The Russian photographer Daniel Kordan has taken an endeavor to this Island to document what it looks like. This photographer who is based in Russia is fond of mountain climbing and trekking. So, his interests and his profession get him to very remote, but amazing places on Earth. But the islands of Socotra are totally different, the environment is so different from anywhere else on the planet that UNESCO has claimed it as a World Heritage.
Not just the trees, animals, and almost all of its ecosystem are not found anywhere else on the Planet. The word ‘Dragon-Blood’ has been made by the Ancestorial people who have visited this island, it is said that the tree sap of these trees is red as blood and because of its size, they have named it the ‘Dragon-Blood’ tree.
Unfortunately, recent climate change and natural disasters have affected these islands a lot. Also, these islands are also a grazing land for livestock, they too are destroying the ecosystems of this island which is not present anywhere else on Earth.
With all these obstacles, it is vital to preserving these islands properly for future generations. So, to reduce people visiting the island all the time, Kordan has captured some amazing pictures of these islands. We hope you enjoy them!
